James Rufus Johnson (Jim) was born in Opp, Alabama on February 07, 1933. Since 1942 resided in Chickasaw and Mobile Alabama, until 2015 when he moved to Grand Prairie, Texas to spend his golden years with his son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Terrie Johnson. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-seven years Jane “Gilley” Johnson and his parents John Hubert Johnson and Ludie B. Johnson and three brothers and four sisters. Jim was the last of John and Ludie’s children to leave these earthly bounds and to be with the lord. James “Jim” Is survived by his loving son Garry and Daughter-in- law Terrie Johnson of Grand Prairie Texas; two grandsons, Ricky Lee Johnson of Arlington Texas and Mick Aaron Johnson of Denver Colorado and special friends Mark and Sandra Lockard and Chuck and Annette Stewart, and special nieces and nephews Ashley and Rusty Smiley, and Dodie and Kevin Smith, and many other family and friends across the country. Jim was an active member of Mobile Christ United Methodist Church and a proud graduate of “Vigor High School”, class of 1952, and a star basketball player at “Vigor” and graduate of Spring Hill College. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was an active member of a local Mystic Society for more than forty-plus years. Jim retired with Alcoa Aluminum, Mobile Plant after thirty-two years of service. Contemporaneously Jim and Jane owned multiple Merle Norman Cosmetics Studios located in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi for thirty years and when they retired from both Alcoa and Merle Norman Cosmetics, they engaged themselves as travel agents with “Bridges to the World Travel Agency” for another five years traveling and seeing the world. Jim’s favorite past-time hobby was celebrating his favorite football team “The University of Alabama” and collecting and compiling the family photographs and genealogy. Funeral service will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Commital service will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A chapel service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Mobile Memorial Gardens followed by a commital service at the grave site.
