James Terral “Sonny” Dixon Sr., age 82, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021, in Mobile, Alabama. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Sonny was born on July 17, 1938, in Prichard, Alabama. He was a member of Refuge Church, formerly Moffett Road Assembly of God. He was employed for years as a cement finisher and in the flooring industry, for Hiller Systems, Sanders Hyland, and Delta flooring. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Mattie Clark Dixon; siblings, Margaret Dixon, William Dixon, Ervin Eugene Dixon, Frances Kilgore, Archie Dixon, Ann Laughton, and Jeanette Davis; and great-granddaughter, Sadie Nichole Price. He is survived by his wonderful wife and helpmate of 62 years, Shirley Jones Dixon; sons, James Terral Dixon Jr. (Robin), Mark Ellis Dixon (Karen), and Donald Steven Dixon (Janet); granddaughters, Crystal Westmoreland (Sean), Terra Dixon Price (Nick), Carly Noel Dixon, Mila Dixon Lowery (Tyler), and Terri Ellise Dixon; great-grandchildren, Jordan Westmoreland, Lane Westmoreland, and Storey Price; brother, Wayne P. Dixon; sisters, Peggy Beall, Kay Dixon, and Sara Dixon; sister-in-law, Betty Jones Crawford (Bill); special great-niece, Laura Dixon Faulk (Jason); and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include Neal Dixon, Philip Dixon, Bryan Dixon, Sean Westmoreland, Nick Price, and Tyler Lowery. Honorary Pallbearers include Danny Peavy, Wesley Miller, Wyman Hall, Doug Harwell Jr., Kent Dixon, Larry Dixon, and Marty Lawshe. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
