James Reginald Vaughan, Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the age of 87. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church; retired from Alcoa Aluminum after over 30 years of service and, before completely retiring, worked in the Mobile County License Commissioner’s Office for over 14 years. He enjoyed fishing, jogging and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Reginald Vaughan, Sr. and Ethel Mae Crane Vaughan; one brother, John Vaughan and his sister, Patricia Vaughan. His survivors include his devoted wife of 68 years, Julia Randall Vaughan; three daughters, Karen Nichols, Tracey Gibson and Christine (Bill) Cane; 6 grandchildren, Erol (Terri Lynn), Michael, Anthony, Lauren, Josh and Rachel (Peter); 7 grandchildren and another expected to be born in June, 2019; cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Providence Hospital ICU Unit for their excellent care and family support. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until service time.
