Jane Vernett Cromer Hanson, born September 2, 1936 in Mobile, AL, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 in Theodore, AL at the age of 84. She was a 1954 graduate of Theodore High School and was a lifelong member of Theodore Baptist Church. Jane retired, after many years of service, as a secretary for the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department. Jane and Sidney Otto Hanson, Jr. were married in 1991 in First Baptist Theodore Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Leroy Cromer and Lura Emma Shotts Cromer; and her daughter, Donna Marie Hewes. Her survivors include her husband, Sidney Otto Hanson, Jr.; son, David (Sherry) Hewes; daughter, Pamela Denise Hewes (Jerry) Shafer; sister, Wilma Cromer Brooks; grandchildren, Mark Hewes, Nancy Hewes Swagart, Sarah Hewes Sachitano, Jason Shafer and Samantha Shafer; 13 great-grandchildren; stepsons, Sidney Hanson, Joe Hanson and John Hanson; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 8:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
