Mrs. Janie Ruth Skelton

Mrs. Janie R. Skelton, age 95 of Mobile, Al went to her heavenly home on April 5, 2023. Janie was born on October 27, 1927, in Pickens County to Charlie M. Lewis and Mary Jane Hogue Lewis.
Janie was a devoted wife of 46 years to James O. Skelton and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Janie was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and loved some good old gospel music. Janie was a member of the Order of Venus Mardi Gras organization until 2022 at the age of 94. Janie loved being surrounded by her family and friends and was always the life of the party. She would steal your husband and dance with him in a heartbeat. Janie met no stranger and anyone that met her instantly fell in love with her. Janie loved all her friends as much as she did her family and would go above and beyond to do whatever she could for anyone.
Janie was preceded in death by her husband James O. Skelton, her father Charlie M. Lewis, mother Mary Jane Hogue Lewis, brothers: Houston Lewis, O'Neal Lewis, Roscoe Lewis, sisters: Lucille Junkins, Lizzy Mae Wyler, Myrtle Harrison, and Ruby Beasley, son in law James McInvale and daughter in law Jeanne Skelton.
Janie is survived by her three loving children Dianne McInvale, Edwin Skelton, and Richard (Tammy) Skelton; ten grandchildren Scott (Angie) Davidson, Shannon (Todd) Cannon, Steven (April) Davidson, Gerald (Tony) McInvale, Melissa (Ben) Davis, Lonette Bentley, Josh (Stacie) Skelton,
Matt (Tabitha) Skelton, Jennifer Skelton, Jody (Lindsey) Gurley, Jeff (Jollen) Gurley, Christopher (Nicole) Thomas, and Tory Thomas. Janie is also survived by 23 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
