Norma Jean Hendrickson McCoy Perigo was born in Nashville, TN, where she was raised with her two brothers, Tiffany Vernon Hendrickson and Robert Hayes Hendrickson. She married Harold Eugene McCoy right after WWII ended. They had three children, Tiffany Millard McCoy, Steve Eugene McCoy, and Debra Gail McCoy. They lived in Kansas City, Kansas, then Lawson Missouri. They divorced in 1963 and Jean married Thomas Aurther Perigo and were married for 47 years. They lived many places; Nashville, TN; Vincennes, IN; Meridian, MS; and Mobile, AL. Jean loved to crochet Afghans for family, friends, and for women’s and children’s hospitals for sick children. Jean’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. She loved Christmas Eve visits from Santa. She was as excited as the children taking her turn to sit on his lap and express her Christmas wishes. It brought joy to the family every year to see her excitement. Jean was a member of Government Street Baptist Church for 32 years.
Jean is preceded in death by; her father, Tiffany McKinley Hendrickson; her mother, Lillian Elizabeth Newton Hendrickson; her loving husband, Thomas Aurther Perigo; and her son, Steve Eugene McCoy.
Norma Jean is survived by; her son, Tiffany (Linda) McCoy; her daughter, Debbie McNickle; 3 stepchildren, Thomas Perigo, Sheila Denson, and Angie Griffin; 5 grandchildren, Jamie (Brian) Frampton, Clay (Amy) McCoy, Justin (Angel) McNickle, Joshua (Jesse Nabors) McNickle, and Steve (Maria) McCoy; 12 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Riley Cate McCoy, Cooper and Walker Frampton, Anna Claire and John Hudson McNickle, Bittany, Kayla, Logan, Brady, Aubrey, and Mathew McCoy; and her 2 nieces, Joy Hendrickson Williams, and Debby Newton Kelly.

Funeral services for Norma Jean will be held on October 31st, 2023, at 1 P.M., at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Robert Jernigan, pastor of Government Street Baptist officiating. Burial will follow the services on October 31st, 2023 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to services from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. on October 31st, 2023, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
