In loving memory of Joe Clifton Black born on August 7, 1940 in Coal City, AL who entered the arms of Jesus on September 25, 2024.
He is survived by daughter Amy Black, two grandchildren Devin and Janna Black, three sisters Jalta Black Pace, Mona Black Scott and Kay Black Buckner and a host of extended family and special friends and one fur baby he loved dearly named Little.
He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly, parents Joseph E. Black (Joe) and Orene T. Black, and sister Ginny Black.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for many years, then upon moving to Brookside Community proudly attended Brookside Chapel and became involved as the "greeter".
He joined the US Army in 1965, served in Korea for some time and then made a career as a civil engineer where he retired from the State of Alabama Highway Department after 34 years.
Joe had a great love for Jesus, family, bluegrass, nature and people. He would make a friend and offer a hand to help anywhere at any time. He bought his first guitar around the age of 10 and enjoyed playing bluegrass/gospel music up until his last few months. He leaves behind a true legacy of unconditional love and will be remembered for his kind gentle spirit, always doing what is right and his strong will to fight as he demonstrated his last few weeks of life.
His family will honor his memory on Monday, September 30 with visitation from 11-12 and services starting at 12 at Mobile Memorial Gardens at 6040 Three Notch Rd Mobile, AL 36619. The family would like to thank The Retreat Hospice by Saad for all the wonderful care and compassion during his transition.
