John Albert McCune, 82, long-time resident of Mobile, passed away January 2, 2020 at Saad Hospice of Mobile after an extended illness. Born February 2, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa to John McCune and Leta (Lines) Burdoin, John grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin, graduating from Central High School, where he made many life-long friends. He moved to San Diego, California, where he owned a Farmers Insurance Agency. He moved to Mobile in 1992, opening the John McCune Insurance Agency, operating until his retirement. John enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes, traveling, puttering in his garage and spending time with family. Surviving are his sister, Patricia Pratt of Mobile; step-brother, Robert Burdoin of Tucson, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Andrea McCune of El Paso, Texas and Lorraine McCune of La Crosse, Wisconsin; daughter, Margo Kronzer of California; granddaughters, Lisa Wall of Mobile, Linda King of Mobile, and Lori Sisson of Ankeny, Iowa; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cissy; parents; step-father, Leavitt Burdoin; two brothers, George and Leonard; sister, Norma; step-brother, Leavitt, Jr. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Three Notch Road in Mobile. Graveside service will take place at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 12:00 pm, where he will be laid to rest alongside Cissy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Saad Hospice of Mobile on behalf of John.
