John Anthony Vittor - Mobile Memorial Gardens

John Anthony Vittor

July 13, 1953 ~ May 3, 2022 (age 68)
On May 3, 2022 John Vittor went to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn Vittor and Frank Vittor, Sr., and sisters Vera Gillis and Anita Burt. He is survived by his sisters Linda Magoffin, Sandy Grant, Frances Lowe, Victoria Jeric, and Virginia Vittor, and brothers Frank Vittor, Jr. and Barry Vittor, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was born in San Diego, California, the ninth of ten children, and attended school in El Cajon, California until graduating from El Cajon Valley High School. He loved going to watch the San Diego Chargers and San Diego State Aztecs football teams and enjoyed hiking in the foothills around El Cajon Valley, looking for snakes and lizards. After moving to Mobile, Alabama in 1974, John worked as a maintenance assistant at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab and then as a lab technician at Vittor & Associates. He took great pride in his work in the laboratory and handled sediment samples from oceans all around the world. He became a devoted fan of the University of Alabama's football program and never missed a game on TV; as he watched, he didn't hesitate to offer "advice" to the Alabama coaches and next-door neighbors always knew when John was Watching the Crimson Tide! John found real joy as a member of Orchard Baptist Church, where he Accepted Christ and was baptized. He loved singing and was especially fond of traditional Christian hymns recorded by Elvis Presley and was proud to sing in the Church choir, lifting a joyful sound to the Lord! John loved his Family and his Church brothers and sisters and was loved by all who came to know him he will be missed by all. Roll Tide, John!
