John Wesley Golson, 61, of Dauphin Island, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. His service will be Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist church with Dr. Rob Couch officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service, followed by burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens. . John was born October 5, 1958 in Norfolk, Virginia and attended Davidson High School in Mobile prior to serving four years in the United States Coast Guard. Prior to moving to Dauphin Island, while living in Atlanta, Georgia, he enjoyed competitive white water kayaking as well as competitive shooting with the International Practical Shooting Confederation, Steel Challenge, 3-Gun and International Defense Pistol Association. He was a certified range officer and beloved volunteer. John was a devoted chef at Pirate's Bar and Grill at the Isle Dauphine Country Club. He loved playing guitar and performed in the bands "21 Crashes", "Fire Pit" and "Carla and the Sand Fleas". He also enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and had a passion for riding his motorcycle with his biker family and friends all along the Gulf Coast, up north to the Great Smoky Mountains Tail of the Dragon and south to Key West. He is survived by his mother, Eva Golson; sister, Carolyn Golson; brother-in-law, Bill Moore and countless beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Davis; father, Billy John Golson; sister, Cheryl Moore and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Pallbearers will be Tony Blackmon, Carl Cronin, Sumner Howard, Justin Lynch, David McLeod and Marcus Oliver. A chapel service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, 10/22/2019 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
