John Irvin Burge III

1988-2018

John Irvin Burge III was born in Mobile, AL on June 20, 1988. He passed away on Christmas Eve December 24, 2018. He leaves behind his loving wife, Elizabeth (Wibbi) Lloyd Burge and two children, John I Burge IV (3), and Katherine E Burge (3 mo). John and Wibbi fell in love at first sight and she was the love of his life. He was the son of John I Burge Jr. and Joy B Burge of Mobile, AL. John enjoyed meeting his dad for lunch, telling him about his work adventures and talking cars with him. He and his mom had a trusting and loving relationship. He also leaves behind three sisters, Morgan (Erich) Holderer, Katie (Ben) Prothro, and Beth (Jonathan) Smiley, all who were very influential in his life. His beloved uncle, Tom Burge (Carol Lee) was like a second father to John and was very active in his life. His cousin Martha Burge, was also a close friend and an honorary sister. John was the son-in-law of Bill and Leah L Lloyd and leaves behind brothers in law Tyler(Hannah) Lloyd, Cameron(Brianna) Lloyd, and Aidan Lloyd along with over twelve nieces and nephews who simply adored him. John was loved by many aunts and uncles, Linda(Gus)Agee, Janet Agee, Jan(Frank) Alardo, Marie(Greg)Sweeney, Alice(Harry) Welker, Jeanette(Phillip) Calametti, W Gene Rutledge and tons of cousins who always knew they could count on John for anything! John graduated from Davidson High School in 2006. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 2007 and served his country for 4 years including tours in Iraq and Kuwait. There, he met men who became lifelong brothers with a bond that will never be broken. He proudly worked for Alabama Power from 2011 until his untimely death. Always one for a good joke, he made the workday more fun and his brothers in the fleet will miss his laughter over the radio waves as handle #48. John was an avid Volkswagen enthusiast. In his free time, he and his son, little John, rebuilt his powder blue 1960 VW Ragtop Bug, truly a one of a kind. He loved riding it through the Smoky Mountains and along the streets of Mobile. He passed away doing what he loved, shifting gears with his larger than life grin in his beloved Beetle. An amazing father, husband, brother and friend; he will be greatly missed. He had a smile like no other and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Services will include a wake to be held at Luke 4:18 Fellowship (2664 Sollie Rd, Mobile, AL) Wednesday, January 2 from 5-8 pm.
