John was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala. to loving parents and two older brothers. He was a Veteran on the Alabama National Guard, entrepreneur in business following graduation. He lived in various cities in the US including Miami, Fla., Little Rock, Ark., and St. Louis, MO, where he ran his own company and was responsible for bringing dry copier toner from Japan to the United States. After meeting his wife, they moved to Mobile, Ala. where he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and well-known gardener. He was also an active member in Grace United Methodist church. He was preceded in death by father, John I Crawford, Sr.; mother, Desi Mae Foster Crawford; brother, James (Red) Crawford; and nephews James Crawford and Aubrey Crawford Survivors include: wife of 42 years Flora Sue Crawford of Mobile, Ala., Cynthia J. (Gary) Lyons of Mound, Minn., John Timothy (Tara) Crawford Sr. of Mobile, Ala.; Steven I. Crawford of Tenn. and Melinda (Dan) Dothage-Dafcik of St. Louis, MO.; brother, Jim- my Crawford of Northport, Ala.; nine grandchildren, Rebecca (Adam) Strasbaugh, Adam (Corwin) Mouser, Matthew (Marie) Crawford, Timothy (Brittany) Crawford Jr., Robert Crawford, Nathan Crawford, Troy Crawford, Katie Dothage-Dafcik, and Nicole Dothage-Dafcik ; and eight great-grandchildren, Sophia, Made- line, Hayden, Julia, DJ, Grace, and nieces and nephews including: Carla Crawford, Scarlett Crawford, Karen Crawford, Jimmie Crawford-Davis and TEXAS FAMILY; and many beloved friends. Pallbearers will be Matthew Crawford, Tim Crawford Jr, Robert Crawford, Gary Lyons, Beedie Mclean.
