John McDonald, age 98, of Gautier passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023 at his home. He was born October 23, 1925 in Irvington, Alabama as the 3rd of 7 children to John McDonald, Sr and Daisy Edna Clark McDonald. He was employed for 37 years with National Linen Service and was a Plant Manager for the company for 21 years. He was a member of Optimist Club, volunteered with American Red Cross and was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Pascagoula. He served as an usher of the Church and visited church members faithfully at hospitals and homes. John was recognized two weeks ago at his church as the oldest veteran member.
John was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran having served on a supply ship during WWII and received 3 stars in Asiatic Pacific and one star in the Philippine Liberation.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cora Lousie McDonald; three sisters, Texie Coleman, Mae Scruggs, Evelyn Sims, and two brothers, George McDonald and Edward Fred McDonald.
John is survived by a sister, Anna Richardson, Moss Point; four nephews and two nieces, Ronnie Eckert (Jackie), E.J. Hamilton (Connie), Steven McDonald (Christy), Douglas Sims (Gloria), Sharon Pugh (David), and Helen Dora (Jonathan).

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, 10:00-11:00am, at First Baptist Church in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am with Dr. Jeff Floyd officiating. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Eckert, Douglas Sims, Steven Mc Donald, Mike Harbor, Colby Reed, Matthew Odom. Graveside Service with military honors will follow at 2:00pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama.
