John M. “Jack” Peterson passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 surrounded by family. Jack was born in Whistler, AL on July 29, 1925, the son of Robert M. Peterson and Helen Jones Peterson. Following his graduation from Murphy High School, Jack served in the U S Navy. Upon returning home, he joined his Father and Uncle (Henry Peterson) in the grocery business at “Peterson & Son’s” in Whistler. He ran this business until it was destroyed by fire in 1971. Jack then worked for Alabama Power until his retirement. Jack married Nancy Carol Richardson on March 25, 1953 and they were blessed with three children, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. They raised their family in Whistler and then upon retirement moved to Bay Minette in Baldwin County, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; his son, John Russell Peterson; his parents, Robert M. and Helen Jones Peterson; his brothers, Robert M. Peterson, Jr., Burton Goodloe Peterson, Donald E. Peterson, Peter W. Peterson and Thomas Joseph Peterson; sisters, Helen Lewis Peterson Roberts and Mary Margaret Peterson Cochran. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, a daughter, Pamela Headley (Richard) and son, Alan “Hank” Peterson; sister, Jean Peterson Lott; grandchildren, Michelle Moses, Gus Bolan (Wendy), Shannon Lolley (Mandy), and Jeremy Lolley (Shannon), and seven great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February, 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A chapel service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, 02/20/21 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home followed by a commital service at the grave site.
