It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jon William Henderson, a man of boundless joy and exceptional character. Jon was born on December 27, 1969, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to Renée Boulet Henderson and the late Robert McKenny Henderson. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Bobby" Henderson.
Throughout his 56 years, Jon touched countless lives with his kindness, humor, and infectious personality. Above all, he was deeply devoted to his family, whom he loved wholeheartedly.
Jon attended the University of South Alabama and was a proud member of Phi Kappa Sigma, where he served as chapter president. His time there was meaningful not only for the friendships he built, but for strengthening a love of football that would stay with him for the rest of his life, as he became a dedicated football official, officiating games at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels. He maintained a strong connection to his alma mater by officiating Jags football games and, at the time of his unexpected passing, was serving as President of the Mobile-Metro Football Officials Association.
Alongside his involvement in sports, Jon was a respected and valued member of the construction safety community, where he dedicated more than two decades of his professional life. He was also a faithful and active member of St. Dominic Catholic Parish. Jon will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christie Medeiros Henderson, with whom he would have celebrated 31 years of marriage this April; his daughter, Hannah Franklin (Blaine); his son, Justin Henderson (Katrina); his grandson, Jon Robert Franklin; his mother, Renée Henderson; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
