Joseph Emanuel "Joey" Strachan, 80, departed this earth for Glory on September 4, 2021 in the company of his wife of 37 years, Dianne, and children, Joanna and Jordan.
Joey was a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama; born on June 21, 1941. He was a Murphy High School graduate, class of 1958, and was a natural ball player. He had a strong passion for playing and watching football, and was an avid Alabama fan.
Joey spent his adult life as a Sheet Metal Mechanic, obtaining his license at Local 441, and retiring after 30 years of dutiful employment. He continued on to coach Baseball and Football at Municipal Park, as well as Mims Park. He performed numerous volunteer functions, including working concessions for 20 years. His hamburgers were so delicious, Mims Park named them "Mr. Joey Burgers". When he retired from the park, he was awarded a plaque for his service and dedication.
Joey is preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Rosalie Strachan; his siblings: Echo, Elsie, June, Joanne, Edward, Edie, and Judy. He leaves behind his beloved wife: Dianne B. Strachan; his children: Chad J. Strachan, Jordan B. Strachan (Claire), and Joanna R. Strachan; his grandchild: Chad J. Strachan, Jr.; his stepdaughter: Valerie Baker; and numerous others, both family and friends.

Services will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
