Joseph (Joe) Tanner, 84, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on December 15th, 2023, after a battle with liver cancer. Joe was born in Theodore, Alabama on February 26th, 1939. He was married to Pansy Tanner on June 14th, 1957, and they were married for 61 years. Joe was an active member of First Baptist Tillman's Corner. He loved to sing, enjoyed carpentry, and enjoyed watching a good football game. Joe retired from Mobile River Terminal where he worked most of his adult life as a crane operator and supervisor. He was preceded in death by his father Elton Tanner, mother Annie Mae Tanner, wife Pansy Tanner, brother Elton Tanner, II, sister Shirley Styron and sister Maxine Rogers, granddaughter Erin Seabrook. He is survived by his daughters Cheri James (Jody), Cindy May, Dana Barrett (Jimmy), his son Jason Tanner, brother Howard Tanner, and grandchildren Leslie Andrews (Shane), Joshua Seabrook (Tamara), Zackary May (Elise), Joseph Seabrook (Amanda), Heath May (Brandi), Amber Nicolaidis (Nick), Summer Barrett, James Barrett, 18 great grandchildren and other friends and family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 19th at Mobile Memorial Funeral Home from 9:00am to 10:00am, with the funeral service to follow at 10:00am. The burial will immediately follow the service at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Derek Allen of First Baptist Tillman's Corner will be officiating.
