Joyce Roth - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Joyce Roth

June 12, 2024
Joyce Eugenia Wojohn Roth, a native of Mobile Alabama and recent resident of Fort Collins Colorado, went to be with her Creator while surrounded by her family on May 29, 2024. Joyce was born on June 2, 1940 in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1958 in the same class as her sweetheart... and on November 27, 1959 she married that sweetheart - the love of her life - her Joey. Together they built a life which included the birth of two children, Charles Glenn and Laura Anne (LaréAnna) Roth. In 1962, Joe and Joyce began serving the Lord together and building a thriving community of dear friends in Fort Walton Beach Florida, as that is where Joe won a bid for employment with National Cash Register Company as a Field Engineer. Joyce soon realized that her purpose and passion lay in her devotion to Christian education, and Rocky Bayou Christian School became her beloved haven and treasured community for many, many years. Joe and Joyce would love and call Fort Walton Beach home for the next 48 years. After the loss of their beloved son Glenn in 2004, Joe and Joyce returned to their native hometown of Mobile Alabama in order to be closer to their grandchildren and family. During her life here on earth, Joyce loved and was devoted to her family, her Lord Jesus Christ, and her Church. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fort Walton Beach Florida, then Forest Lake Bible Church in Niceville Florida, followed by Trinity Presbyterian Church in Valparaiso Florida, and finally Christ Presbyterian Church in Mobile Alabama. Joyce experienced immense joy in music, providing piano accompaniment for the congregations she served, and in singing praises to her Lord and Savior amongst her friends and loved ones. Joyce also took great pleasure in watching her family learn and grow in their gifts from the Lord. Her husband's passions were in music, photography and racing homing pigeons with their son Glenn. She delighted in Glenn's saxophone skills and debate team achievements, and faithfully supported LaréAnna in her cross-country racing events and classical piano recitals and performances. When her grandchildren arrived, she was always there to welcome each one into the world. Joyce is preceded in death by both of her parents, Walter Otto and Clarice Eugenia Allen Wojohn, her brother Gregory Allen Wojohn, her son Dr. Charles Glenn Roth, and her husband Thomas Joseph Roth II. She is survived by her daughter LaréAnna Roth (aka Laura Anne Roth Batson), her Son-in-Law Steven Mark Batson, Daughter-in-Law Kimberlee Gibson Roth McGuire (Gerry McGuire), six granddaughters... Maegan Elizabeth Batson, Anna Kristine Roth (Elliott Miller), Jessica Danielle Batson (Joe Martinez), Lauren Annelise Batson-Raab (Jordan Raab), Caroline Grace Batson, Emma Joy Batson... and one grandson, Thomas Joseph Roth III (Gerri Wright). She is also survived by her Sister-in-Law, Jaye Valentine Wojohn, her nephews Gregory Wojohn and Zachary Wojohn (Shelli Wojohn), and her great nephew and niece, Caden Matthew and Holly Grace Valentine Wojohn. In lieu of sending flowers, the family encourages her dear friends to honor her memory by joining together in lifting prayers and hymns of praise in worship together. They additionally invite all those who knew her, along with themselves, to extend generosity, kindness, and love to those our Creator places in our paths, as she always strived to do. This, they believe, is how she would most want to be honored and remembered.
