Julian Maxwell Brown passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Maxwell was born August 20, 1938, in Baker Hill, Alabama to Ira Hubert Brown and Maedelle White Brown. Following his graduation from high school, he attended Auburn University for two years before having to return home to help with his family.
He married the love of his life, Bobbidine Owens Brown on August 16, 1950, a union they enjoyed for 70 years. Following their wedding, the two immediately moved to Washington, DC where Max served in the Army during the Korean War. The couple returned to Abbeville following Max's discharge from the Army, where they had three children. He built homes in Abbeville until 1959, when he moved his family to Mobile, Alabama where he was offered a job working with Mitchell Corporation.
During his time with Mitchell, he was transferred to New Orleans, Louisiana for a period of five years. Following their time in New Orleans, Max and his family returned to Mobile. Shortly after their return, Max opened his own business, Max's Millwork, with Joe Kosko, where they specialized in custom millwork and cabinetry. He continued this work until his retirement. Max was not one to be still for long. Following his retirement, he worked as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He also enjoyed using his knowledge and love of woodwork as a hobby, making custom gunstocks for people all over the country. When he wasn't working with wood, he loved spending his time outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and nature.
In May of 2020, Max and Dean moved to Birmingham to live under the loving care of their daughter Deborah. Max loved his Lord and was a faithful member of Kingswood United Methodist Church.
Max is preceded by his wife, Bobbidine O. Brown, his parents, Hubert and Maedelle Brown, brothers, Hubert Wallace Brown and Robert Earl Brown and sister, Marjorie Brown Pearce. Of all the blessings he experienced in this world, he treasured and loved his family more than anything and he showed this love with his time, attention, and devotion. He is survived by his children, Deborah Brown Sparks of Birmingham, Kenneth Maxwell Brown (Diana) of Mobile and Olivia Brown Host (Jerry) of Ridgeland, MS. He is also survived by seven beautiful grandchildren, Kerri Amanda Sparks Bevis (Kevin), Meredith Leigh Sparks Downing (Darrell), Robert Franklin Brown (Kim), Kenneth Wade Brown (Brandy), Taylor Jeffery Brown (Brittany), Christopher Owens Host (Rachel), Lauren Elise Host Stratton (Matt), and thirteen great grandchildren, Chandler Anthony Bevis, Ellery Kate Bevis, Conner James Downing, Caden Jackson Brown, Kinsley Grace Brown, Isabella Madison Brown, Bayler Avery Brown, Julian Wyatt Brown, Tucker Aaron Brown, Laura Elizabeth Brown, Nora Keylon Host, Robert Greer Stratton, Emily Host Stratton.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM.
