Mr. Karl Michael Bentley, Sr (Pop) born February 3, 1936, passed away at age 87 on September 3rd, 2023 after an extended battle with cancer.
A longtime resident of Hollingers Island, he grew up in Creighton and graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. An avid motorcycle rider, Karl Bentley was no stranger to hard work, doing his fair share of shrimping the Mobile Bay and devoting 30 years as a Telephone Lineman. He was a Veteran who serve Honorably for 2 years in the United States Army as a Field Artillery Basic and awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by his three sons, Karl (Laura) Michael Bentley Jr., Mark (Slón) Bentley, Drew (Emily) Bentley, one daughter, Rachel (Shawn) Davidson, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carole Ann Bentley, née Flammia, son, Stephen Bentley, Sr., daughters, Dawn Bentley and Mary Anne Bentley, and his granddaughter, Kristen Bentley Prewitt.

A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00pm at Ascension Funeral Home: 1016 Hillcrest Road Mobile, Alabama, 36695. A Mass will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church: 906 Garrity Street, Mobile, Alabama 36605.
