Linda Gail Burke (ne Lum), passed from this life into heaven on October 4, 2023, while surrounded by family. She was the oldest child of the late Mitchell and Dorothy Lum, born on January 26, 1944, in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Linda married the love of her life, John D. Burke Jr. (Mutt) on July 12, 1963. They resided in Mobile, Alabama, and built a beautiful life together. Linda and Mutt were married for 45 years and raised four children. Her many talents and interests included fishing with her husband, gardening, sewing, baking, painting, and time spent with family.
Linda's loving and warm nature welcomed everyone who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her love for family increased even more with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the family, the "baby whisperer" and the best friend to many family members. Holidays were made extra special in the Burke home with her homemade meals and desserts, and of course, everyone was always welcome. Her legacy will continue to live on in the lives of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mutt, and her parents, Mitchell and Dorothy.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, John Burke III (Michelle), Melissa Burke, Mitchell Burke (Melinda Leigh) and Denise McDonald; her grandchildren: Ryan Burke (Maura), Katie Burke, Brittany Sisson (Clint), Amber Burke (Dakota), Dianna Burke, Haley Quinn (Tommy), and Dylan McDonald; her great-grandchildren: Charlotte Burke, Drago Meade, Hayden Sisson, Lyla and Aurora O'Neill, and Tinley Quinn; and siblings: Lana Draper, and Wren Lum (Beth). There are also numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that will miss her love and kindness.
