Linda Sandlin Coker, born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, former resident of Mobile, Alabama, San Antonio, Texas, and Houston, Texas, and current resident of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away on September 8, 2022. She was 75. Mrs. Coker was a 1965 graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1969 with a bachelor's degree with a major in journalism, and a minor in history. Mrs. Coker was the first female member inducted into Sigma Delta Chi (Society of Professional Journalists) in the state of Alabama. She worked for the Mobile Press Register in the Women and Society Section as a writer, covering weddings, club meetings, and other social events. Mrs. Coker then worked for Foley's in Houston as an advertising writer where she wrote many local and national advertisements. Mrs. Coker was also a loyal wife and mother. She was loving, kind, and compassionate. All who knew her were moved by her sweet disposition. She loved fashion- she bought her children and grandchildren fantastic outfits that drew widespread compliments. She also was an avid traveler who visited over 90 countries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Leonard Sandlin and Evelyn Hobson Sandlin, and an infant brother Charles Sandlin. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald William Coker, her two daughters Brittany Coker Tipton (Brian) of Woodstock, Georgia and Caroline Coker Coursey (Steve) of Decatur, Georgia, and four grandchildren: Benjamin Tipton, Christina Coursey, Robert Coursey, and Donald Coursey. She is also survived by her siblings: Lisa Gralapp (Charlie) of Fort Worth, Texas, Al Sandlin (Carol) of Atlanta, Georgia and Sondra Freeman (Roger) of Dacula, Georgia, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Services are scheduled for September 19, 2022 at Radney Funeral Home on 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606. Visitation will be held from 11:00am -1:00pm with a chapel funeral service at 1:00pm. Following the service, a procession will be going to Mobile Memorial Gardens for a graveside service and interment.
