Linda Bleyswyk, age 74, a resident of Theodore, Alabama, passed away in the early morning hours of January 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband and family.
She was born Linda E. Smith on May 21, 1948, in Mississippi. Linda was one of three girls born to the late Raymond David Smith and Annie Lois Smith. She attended Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama, and graduated in 1966. In that same year, she married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Shelby Bleyswyk. A true love story, they were married for 56 wonderful years!
Linda leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Shelby Bleyswyk; children, Simon Bleyswyk, Charlynn (Chuck) Bleyswyk Weston, Noralyn (Rodney) Bleyswyk Thibodeau, and Shelby (Tara) Bleyswyk, II; grandchildren, Dillon (Grace), Angela (Kagan), Cameron (Jessica), Layne, Landon, Kody, Brayden, Ava, Emily, Luke, Layton, Kassandra, and Rodney, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jack Morgan and Harper Ann; younger sister, Connie (James) L. Johnson; as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; older sister, Patricia Kelly; nephew, David Kelly; and grandson, Michael Darin Musgrove, II.
Her family was her life and she thrived through them. She attended every ballgame and event possible, and even attended some of the go-cart races for many years. She loved life and she adored her family! A family that is so very blessed to be the product of such a wonderful love story.
Linda worked in the insurance industry for many years and enjoyed her work family very much. She retired from Thames Batre Insurance in 2012.
Linda’s family would like to thank the caregivers, Denise Sheppard and Mary Katherine Brown, as they, along with her family, worked tirelessly to make Linda comfortable in her final journey, as well as a special thank you for all of the direction and support to her wonderful friends, Kym and Bo Lewis.
You leave us with beautiful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, we know you’re by our side. Until we meet again, we love you, now and forever.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 from 12-2 PM at Serenity Funeral Home, followed by service at 2 PM, officiated by Brother Mark Griffin. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Jimmy has passed on but I am sure that he would want us to send love to Shelby and family. Take comfort in knowing that you spent your lives loving and caring for each other just as we did.
