Loretta Meredith Turner - A native of Opp, Alabama and a resident of Mobile, Alabama died Saturday, November 2, 2024. Loretta was a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and attended Christ United Church until her health failed. She was easy to love and returned love without measure. She was firm in her convictions and respected others and their views.
Loretta was a fabulous cook whose dishes were in great demand. Whenever there was a meeting or other event at church, she was always requested to make her chicken pot pie and hummingbird cake. She had a heart for the hurting, humans and animals alike, and was a beautiful lady inside and out. She was the director of the Rape Crisis Center.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Wilson Turner and Gertha Turner; her daughter, Yvonne Straughn; and her granddaughter, Kari Nastasi. She is survived by her son, Bret Straughn; her daughters, Laurie Cook and Kristen Witteman; and her grandsons, Kyle and Colin Cook, and Caleb Nastasi. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Turner; her sister, Jan Harden, and the love of her life, Bill Chestnut.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Christ United Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Christ United Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
