Lula Mae Holland was born to James and Mary Ward on October 8, 1931. She lived a long life filled with love, service, and joy. She became a Christian while her children were young after a kind neighbor invited her to church services. She then taught her husband the gospel, helping him to serve as an elder in the Lord’s church for many years. Lou devoted many years of her life to serving God; teaching Bible classes and sending countless cards to those she loved. While she worked as a bank teller, her heart was in teaching, and she spent several years caring for children at the Mobile Christian Daycare. She cherished her loved ones, church family, her many friends, and especially the ladies’ bunco nights. She loved to shop and to travel, and was always dressed to the nines, and never without her lipstick. She was married almost 65 years to Thomas S. Holland Sr. (deceased). She was preceded in death by her sons Thomas S. Holland Jr. (Wanda), James E. Holland Sr. (Marion), and Terry L. Holland (Phebe). She was preceded in death by the following siblings: Mary Buckwalter, Dorothy Livermore, Doris Meskenas, Martha Thomas, Joann Baria, and James Ward Jr. (Betty). She leaves behind her children, Jimmy Holland (Lori) and Kimberly (Holland) Claunch (Jesse); grandchildren Vickie (Holland) Dickgieser (Charles), Katrina (Holland) Howat, Joshua, Micah, Andrew, Timothy, and Isaac Claunch, Caleb and Callie Holland, Alton Barrow, and Jacob Barrow; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her sisters, Gladys Bronson and Margaret Coursey. Her life was one of faith and love, and she will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
