Lycyle Juanita Rester Attebery Crowdus, age 88, passed away peacefully at her Mobile, Alabama home on Sunday Afternoon July 9, 2023.
Lycyle was born in Mobile County, Alabama on May 16, 1935. She was the oldest of two daughters born to Richard and Chestina “Kate” Montee Rester. Affectionately called “Aunt” by her family, she began her life by being raised alongside her younger sister Marita in Semmes, Alabama. Lycyle was a 1952 graduate of Semmes High School where she was elected Queen of the Semmes Camellia Festival her Senior Year.
After high school, Lycyle married her first husband Otis Franklin Attebery who passed away in 1967. In 1971, Lycyle married her second husband Thomas Lloyd Crowdus who passed away in 1996.
In 1974, Lycyle began working as a bookkeeper for Geotechnical Engineering. A position that she held for 40 years. A lifelong member of Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church, where she was involved in many of the churches committees and activities.
Lycyle lived a full life. She had many interest and hobbies. These included weekend trips with her family to Dauphin Island, days on the beach, deep sea fishing, watching Alabama football, and spending holidays with her Tanner Williams relatives in the country.
Lycyle and her late husband, Lloyd, had a great passion for Antique Cars. They were both members of the Deep South Region of the AACA, Antique Automobile Club of America. Lycyle served as the club’s treasurer, and helped to plan many of the club’s car shows and activities. In her later years, she could be spotted driving her red 1965 Ford mustang convertible around Mobile.
Lycyle’s greatest achievement in life was her loving, loyal, and devoted son, Ronald.
Lycyle was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Kate Rester; first husband, Otis Franklin Attebery; second husband, Thomas Lloyd Crowdus; sister and brother in law, Marita and James H. Middleton.
Lycyle is survived by her son, Ronald Franklin Attebery (Shelley) of Mobile, AL; Grandson, Mason Attebery of Mobile, AL; Nephew, Donald Middleton of Tampa, FL; Nieces, Susan Seward (Steve) and Karen Pierce (Justin); Grandnieces and Grandnephew, Megan Brown (Chance), Andrew Seward (Caitlin), Katelyn Pierce (Jack) of Sumrall, MS, Abigail Pierce; Great Grandnephews, Sutton Seward and Ruston Brown all of the Tanner Williams Community.
