Madeline Sims Leonard was born on October 1, 1933, to Wilburn “Red” and Lois Watson Sims in Excel, Alabama; she was one of nine children. After graduating from Murphy High School in 1951, she attended Milwaukee Bible College where she met the love of her life, Tony Leonard. They married on June 2, 1956, at the Mobile Gospel Tabernacle.
