Madeline Leonard

May 1, 2020
Madeline Sims Leonard was born on October 1, 1933, to Wilburn “Red” and Lois Watson Sims in Excel, Alabama; she was one of nine children. After graduating from Murphy High School in 1951, she attended Milwaukee Bible College where she met the love of her life, Tony Leonard. They married on June 2, 1956, at the Mobile Gospel Tabernacle. In 1969, the family began their service on the mission field in Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles. In 1986, Madeline continued to support Tony as they returned to the states where he became the senior pastor at Greystone Bible Church until he retired. The center of Madeline’s life was her devotion to her Lord, her family, and her church; she went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 27, 2020. Madeline is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tony Leonard; her children Mike Leonard and his wife, Jane; Mark Leonard and his wife, Julianne; Terri Conley and her husband, Carroll; Sherri Creighton and her husband, Donald; Greg Leonard and his wife, Margi; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Margaret Sims; her sister, Diane Crawford; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Pat Sims; her sister-in-law, Brenda Sims; her sister, Pam Roberts; and her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Paul Locke. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Dolores Sims; her brother and sister-in-law, Temus and Patsy Sims; her brother, Maxie Sims; and her brother, Terry Sims. The family is grateful for the expressions of sympathy and encouragement they have received from their family and friends from all over the world. Though we grieve the loss of Madeline, we rejoice that one day, because of our faith in Jesus Christ, we will spend eternity with her in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Greystone Bible Church, 5350 Girby Road, Mobile, AL 36693. Please note on your gift that it is in memory of Madeline Leonard.
