Manuela Gabriela Golden, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on September 16, 2024, at University Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, at the age of 65. Born June 25, 1959, in Berlin, Germany, she moved to the United States at the age of two and became a long-time resident of Mobile, Alabama.
Manuela dedicated over 25 years of her life serving the community as a nurse at Springhill Memorial Hospital, where she was known for her compassion and unwavering care for her patients. After retiring from nursing, she continued to make a lasting impact by working alongside her two children at her son’s restaurant, LoDa Biergarten. Known affectionately as "Moma" by the downtown Mobile community, she was cherished for her warmth and generosity.
In addition to her professional life, Manuela had a deep love for adventure and the outdoors. She enjoyed cross-country motorcycling and spent many peaceful hours fishing with her husband, Robert. She found joy in the kitchen, where she shared her love of cooking with her grandchildren, and in sewing: a skill passed down to her from her late mother, Elfriede Margarete Horton.
Manuela is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, James Robert Golden, her two children, Cassandra Adele Wyatt and Matthew Jay Golden (Margaux), and her four adored grandchildren: Lucy Rose, Jay, Calixtus, and Sebastian. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A devoted parishioner of Our Savior Catholic Church, her funeral Mass will be held there to celebrate her life and commemorate her soul to her true Savior. Services will be provided by Ascension Funeral Home, and she will be laid to rest at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Manuela will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her vibrant spirit, and the kindness she shared with all those around her.
Visitation will be held at Our Savior Catholic Church, 1801 Cody Road Mobile, Alabama 36695 on Friday September 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Savior Catholic Church, 1801 Cody Road Mobile, Alabama 36695 Friday September 20, 2024 at 12:30 PM. Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three-Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619.
