Margaret Kirk Lightsey, age 96, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend. She and her husband, James, founded the Crestview Community Watch and played an integral roll in that organization for many years. Margaret was the bookkeeper for the former Swiss Cleaners in Mobile for many years. She was a member of Woodridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Lightsey; parents, James Kirk, Sr. and Eunice Rice Kirk; and 8 siblings.
Survivors include her children, Elizabeth L. Massengale (Don), Sharon L. Woods, James G. Lightsey (Sharon), and Keith Lightsey; grandchildren, Sandy Brannon, David Higgins (Miche), Starr Smallwood (John), Kyle Lightsey (Randi-Lea), Blake Massengale, Bryan Lightsey (Kandis), Tyler Massengale (Ellen); step-grandchildren, Rachel Mays (Dorothea), Heather Bland (Jason), and April Mays (Barb); great-grandchildren, Jimmy Spafford (Emily), Grant Brannon, Emma and Brooks Smallwood, Parker and Regan Lightsey, Emery and Bryce Lightsey; step-great-grandchildren, Patrick and Morgann Bland; sister, Hazel Mosley; brother, Bobby Kirk (Lizzie Mae); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Kyle Lightsey, Blake Massengale, Bryan Lightsey, Tyler Massengale, Jimmy Spafford, and Grant Brannon. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 22, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Pastor Garry Harred and Pastor Mack Morris officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
