Margaret Nettles

1927-2019
Margaret Browning Nettles, 91, passed away on June 10, 2019. She was a native of Pickens County, Alabama and a resident of Mobile since 1951. She was a graduate of Pickens County High School and Samford University. Mrs. Nettles was a retired history teacher in the Mobile County School System. She was a charter member of the Mobile Council of Social Studies. As a dedicated teacher, she was awarded many district and state teacher recognition awards in Social Studies. Margaret was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She was very active in church work and was an adult Bible teacher for over 50 years. She and her husband also worked with the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention in the Lay-Renewal movement for 20 years. Margaret was currently a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church and in the past had also been active at Sage Avenue Baptist Church and Cottage Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Browning, her brother, James Scott Browning, and her husband of 62 years, Kendall DeLoach Nettles. Survivors include her son Kendall Wayne Nettles (Renee), her daughter Karen Nettles Ellis (David), three precious grandsons-Philip Kendall Nettles, Jordan Scott Nettles (Codi), and Kyle Bradford Ellis, and one great-grandson, Jude Oliver Nettles and other relatives. Funeral services will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 10am. Visitation will start at 9am. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A chapel service will be held at 10am on Saturday, 06/15/2019 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
