Marlene Sue Hendricks Vaughan, 85, of Semmes, AL transitioned from this earthly home to her Heavenly home on February 2, 2021. She was born to the late Lavert and Effie Mae Hendricks of Monroe, LA on December 30, 1935. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Carl R. Vaughan. They spent 54 wonderful years together pastoring Church of God churches in TX, LA, AL, MS and GA. Sister Vaughan, as she was known and loved by many, assisted her husband in the ministry filling many positions. She played the piano, sang-and my what a soprano voice, served on State Ladies Ministries boards and also the Benevolence Board for the Church of God Home for Children. When they retired, they moved back to Mobile to be with their children. Brother and Sister Vaughan pastored and built the current sanctuary for GracePointe Church (formerly known as Springhill/Providence COG). After retirement, they served at Forest Hill, Oak Park and at the time of her death, GracePointe, where she sang in the choir until she faced health challenges. She was known as a prayer warrior and would pray daily for anyone and everyone. She faithfully served her Lord for 73 years. She is survived by her sister, Lajuana Oglesby of Monroe, LA; her three children, Russell (Michelle) Vaughan, Eric (Laura) Vaughan, and Valerie (David) Trest. She was called Mamaw by four grandchildren- Tara (Mike) Brownlee, David (Skye) Carter, Philip Vaughan, Payton Vaughan and one great granddaughter, Taylor Mae Brownlee. She is also survived by two nephews-Shawn and Kevin Oglesby and one niece Dawn Oglesby. Services for Sister Vaughan will be Monday, February 8th @ 12 noon @ GracePointe Church on Foreman Rd. Visitation will be from 11-12 before the service. Interment will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens.

A church service will be held at 12pm on Monday, 02/08/21 at Grace Pointe Church, followed by a graveside service.
