Mary Ellen McCullough
October 25, 1936 — September 3, 2024
Princeton, IL. - Mary E. "Skeeter" McCullough, of Bradford, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Mary was born in Mobile, AL, she was the cherished daughter of the late Marcus and Opal Hoffman. Mary was a proud graduate of Murphy High School, Class of 1955.
On May 3, 1956, she married Raymond K. McCullough. They shared 54 years of marriage together, she was a military wife and traveled everywhere with Ray, including Africa, Spain, and Greece. They traveled and went on adventures before Rays passing on January 20, 2011.
Mary dedicated much of her professional life to serving others, as an administrative assistant for Dr. Hadden's podiatry office and later at the Pontiac Correctional Facility, where she worked as the administrative assistant to the warden until her retirement.
An active member of the Legion Auxiliary Club and former trustee of the Leet Memorial United Methodist Church. She was quite the Civil War buff and spent many happy hours researching the history, as well as her own family genealogy. She loved her animals ':?{and found immense pleasure in crafting and crocheting. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her beloved family. She, was an amazing wife, mother, daughter and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving Mary are her two children, daughter Kathleen (Doug) Dittmer of Colorado and son Markus (Melanie) McCullough of Bradford, IL; four grandchildren, Alex Bartholomeu Luke McCullough, Kelly Adkins and Jen Slichenmyer; as well as several great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Opal Hoffman, husband, Raymond McCullough, son David McCullough and two grandsons, Justin Slichenmyer and Davey Meyers.
Mary was taken home to Mobile, AL where she will be laid to rest. The family would like to invite family and friends to bid a final farewell.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619. With words of comfort offered by Brother Shawn Kaufers of Christ United Church.
