Our beloved Mary Jane Bissell of Mobile Alabama, formerly of Jackson Mississippi, passed away at peace on the 2nd of February 2023 at the age of 93.
Jane graduated from Pine Bluff Arkansas High School. Her first job was with Arkansas Power and Light. When the family moved to Jackson, Mississippi in 1950, she started work at Mississippi Power and Light, now Entergy, where she stayed until she retired.
Jane is a child of God, a follower of Christ, and was an active member of West Mobile Baptist Church. Jane was a true lady of the South. She liked her jewelry shiny, her hair perfect, and her nails pretty. And she loved her family deeply. She liked to travel, play Skipbo with friends, laugh and laugh, and munch on Tate's chocolate chip cookies and Lay's potato chips.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen H. Bissell, her parents, Clarence Fred and Margaret Elizabeth Black, her brothers Clarence Jr. and Charles Taylor, and her sister Patricia Ann Black.
She is survived by her faithful sister and brother-in-law Frances Tackett (Gene) of Mobile Alabama and her devoted stepsons and daughters-in-law, Randall Bissell (Dawn) of Corpus Christi Texas and Allen Bissell (Elaine) of Fairview Tennessee.
She also leaves her grandson Stewart R. Bissell of West Des Moines, Iowa and Corpus Christi Texas, granddaughter Emily Bissell Herrin (Mark), her great grandchild Christopher Mark Herrin of Kingwood Texas, her step-grandsons Bryan A.
