Mary Jane Driscoll was born on January 17, 1941 to Walter and Annie Hackett in Mobile, Alabama. Mary Jane transitioned into eternal life in her home on Friday, December 6, 2024, surrounded by family members.
Mary was educated in the Mobile County Public School System where she graduated from Central High School, Class of 1959. She continued her education at AmSouth Banking School.
She came to know the Lord at an early age. She was a member of Greater Morning Star Baptist Church and she later united with Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and a member of the choir. She was a faithful servant.
She began working at AmSouth in 1969 and worked for 24 years before retiring as Branch Assistant Vice President in 1993.
Mary was affectionately known for her love, smile, and kindness. She was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by compassion and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends. We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the part and impact she had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, James Driscoll, parents Walter and Annie Hackett, sister Evelyn Johnson, five sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She leaves to cherish her memories: two devoted children, Jamye (Steven) Wells and Vincent (Tracy) Driscoll; four grandchildren, Justin (Shantera) and Jayla Wells, Malcolm and Dylan Driscoll; brother, Walter (Theresa) Hackett, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Kali Wells; devoted cousin, Margaret Hope; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
