Mrs. Mary Jean Nall Brooks, age 91, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 11, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William Sutton Brooks, Sr. They both passed away on an Easter weekend. She was also preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Carrie Nall, son Harvey Rezo Brooks, and sister Peggy Tacon.
Mrs. Brooks was a realtor in the Mobile area for over 25 years, spending the majority of her career with Roberts Brothers. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1946 and was instrumental in organizing and leading their class reunions for many years. She was a noted Historian of Old Mobile, appearing on television and radio sharing her incredible knowledge and interesting stories. She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor, love of cooking, beautiful needlework, wonderful collection of books, and her enjoyment of crossword puzzles. We have many fond memories of listening to her recite poems, and telling stories about her childhood in Texas.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her children: William "Bill" Sutton Brooks, Jr., Melinda Jean Freeman (Warren, her favorite son-in-law), Sheila Kay Ishee, Jeannie Marie Davis, and 7 grandchildren: Wayne Sutton Wells, Rachel Wells Brooks, Jenny Ishee Deveau, Matthew Ishee, Caleb Ishee, Daniel Brooks, and 11 great grandchildren .
Graveside services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Wednesday April 15, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.
