With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Mooney Shoultz on May 6, 2026, at the age of 87. Mary was born in Alabama and spent most of her life as a resident of Mobile. She lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and deep devotion to her family. Mary was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bessie Dutch; her mother, Vicie Louise Mooney (York); and her brother, Wayne Mooney. She leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss her, including her daughters, Carrie Spencer and Alisa Mann. She is survived by one brother, Joe Mooney. Mary was also a cherished grandmother to three grandchildren: Michael, Ashley, and Brandy. She was a great-grandmother to two treasured great-grandchildren: Addie and Sheppard. Mary worked for many years in telecommunications, starting with BellSouth as a switchboard operator before retiring from AT&T, where she was known for her kindness and strong work ethic. She found joy in life's simple pleasures. Mary enjoyed her weekly hair appointments, cheering on Alabama football, indulging in a sweet treat, and getting lost in a good mystery book. She had a warm spirit and a quiet appreciation for the things that brought her happiness. Mary touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, selflessness, and enduring love for her family will be remembered always. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and love that will continue through all those who knew and loved her.

Memorial services to honor Mary's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Mobile Memorial Gardens, located at 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Alabama 36619. A graveside service will follow.
