She was a faithful and loving Mom, Meme, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Before her illness, she was the first to volunteer and make sure friends, family and loved ones knew they were prayed for and cared for. Melanie was an active member of the Mobile Baptist Builders and loved going on mission to help cook for the builders. She often opened her home to college students and families in ministry for a hot meal and a comfy bed.
God blessed her with the gift of hospitality.
Melanie graduated from Murphy High School in 1960 and began her life with Jim that same year. Melanie served in the school food service industry for 28 years with 24 years in the
Satsuma schools. She retired from her career as the Manager of Lee Elementary and Satsuma High School Cafeterias. Her heart was called to make sure her students were well fed and well cared for on her watch.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, James (Jim) T. Williams; her parents, Freddie E. Webb, Sr. and Mattie Belle Webb, Brother in laws Harold Harvill and Vincent Lyons.
Melanie is survived by her children, Pam (Gary) Raymond, Dana (Mike) Calder, and Jim (Desiree) Williams; grandchildren, Rachel (Chris) Morgan, Britney (Chris) Sherrer, Cari Raymond, Michael (Jessica) Calder, Jr., Sarah Calder, Christina Williams, Christa (Alex) Hughes, Ashley (Steve), Shaun (Dana) Battiste, and Haley (Matt) Baker; and great grandchildren, Mollie Morgan, Emma Morgan, Chloe Morgan, Conner Morgan, Ava Sherrer, Olivia Sherrer, Michael (Tripp) Calder, III, Addison Battiste, Ryleigh Battiste, Cohen Baker, Landon Baker and Ansley Baker. Also, thanks to the Saad Family for their vision and care put into creating The Retreat as such a peaceful and loving place to say goodbye to our precious Meme.
