Mr. Melvin Bernard Langley of Mobile, AL passed away on January 8, 2019. Mr. Langley was born in Mobile, Alabama, on October 11, 1928 to Richard Langley and Adeline Marie Langley. He attended Little Flower Catholic School and McGill Institute, graduating in 1946. He attended the University of Alabama-Mobile Campus. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952, including service in the Korean War. He had a long career in the building industry, at Hallett Lumber Company, Langley Lumber and Supply, and Southern Pipe and Supply Company. He married Mary Elizabeth Evans, the love of his life, on January 21, 1956. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Adeline Langley, and his brothers Marcine, John, Richard, and Albert Langley; and sisters Artie Lee Langley, Dorothy Langley Avera, Ruby Langley McGowan, and Jessna Langley Walston. He is treasured and loved by his surviving family members: his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Elizabeth Evans Langley; son James Richard Langley, daughter-in-law Beth, and granddaughter Madeline Rose of Daphne, AL, and step-grandson Austin Lyons of Mobile; daughter Lee Anne Langley Cox, her husband David Cox, grandchildren Brittney Stewart (Weston), David Allan Cox, Jr. (Lara), Evan Cox (CC), and Brandon Cox (fiancée Sharon Williams); and great grandchildren Caleb, Ella, and Cooper Stewart, Zoe Cox, and more to come. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Mobile, on Saturday, January 12. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi. Mr. Langley will be laid to rest at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
