Merrilyn LaFaye Martin, 89, of Mobile, Alabama passed away on October 15, 2021, at Angels for the Elderly assisted living home. Mrs. Martin was a member of Orchard Baptist Church, where she was Sunday School Director for many years. She had a true servant's heart and wanted everyone she met to know Jesus as their Savior. Mrs. Martin was a teacher with Mobile County Public Schools for thirty years and taught sixth grade English and Math. In her earlier years, she was youth director at Westlawn Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Camp (Jeff) of Montgomery, AL, and Kristi Martin of Mobile, AL; one daughter-in-love, Celeste Martin (Billy) of Hoover, AL; She loved her five grandchildren, Apryl DeLoach, Ashley Camp, Amy Camp Kelley (David), Amanda Martin Clowers (Hayden), and Shane Martin. Mrs. Martin is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Raegan DeLoach, Madison Kelley, and Averi Kelley; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Alice Cannon; her loving husband, William Joel Martin; Son, William (Billy) Earl Martin, and one sister, Darlyne Mastrobattisto.
August 21, 1932 ~ October 15, 2021 (age 89)
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation from 10am until the 12pm service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family is requesting that all guests attending the services wear face masks.
