Michelle Steiner, a resident of Mobile, AL since 1983 went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2024 after a courageous, even joy-filled battle with stomach cancer. She peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home lovingly surrounded by her adoring children and husband, and her Momma.
Michelle was born in Grants, NM on January 27, 1964 to Joyce and Ed Scott. She was the middle sibling between two brothers, Russell and Kevin, who she loved dearly. She graduated from Westside High School in Augusta Georgia in 1982 where she enjoyed cheerleading, track, basketball, and horseback riding. After graduating, she followed her older brother Rusty to Livingston University where she met Linwood Steiner. They were married May 28, 1983. She put her academic pursuits on hold to start a family.
She excelled as mother to her four children who are forever grateful for her sacrificial, unconditional love and christ-centered admonition. In 1995, while raising four young children, Michelle enrolled at the University of South Alabama and began pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She graduated from USA in 2002 (the same year her oldest daughter graduated High-School) and began a 21 year career in Education. In 2012, she earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling. It was Michelle’s expressed desire to use these degrees for God’s glory. Her talent, kindness, creativity, energy, compassion, nurturing spirit, and genuine love for others was clearly seen in her teaching and counseling.
Michelle’s faith in Christ, her sure hope of Heaven, and her Joy in the Lord during her last months on this earth were a living testimony of the sovereign grace of God in her life; an inspiration to all. In her last days, unable to eat or drink, barely able to speak, she would wake up each morning, smile, lift her eyes, and proclaim “this is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
She is survived and will be profoundly missed by her husband of 41 years, Linwood, their four children Windy (Joseph) Kees, Lauren (William) Latta, Lee (Carolyn) Steiner, Savannah (Steven) Nobles; her 11 grandchildren, Charlotte, Steven, Linwood, Bentley, Susanna, Scotty, Luke, Beau, Ellie, Rhett and Joseph; her mother, Joyce; her siblings Russell (Ann) and Kevin.
She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, friends, and students who she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father Lionel Edward Scott.

My deepest sympathy. Michelle had a smile that would light up the room. She’s left a beautiful legacy of faith and family. Praying for the family.
My condolences to the entire family. One of the best cheerleaders Westside ever had and a great family.🙏🏻
I'm so sorry to hear this. Michelle grew up in the same neighborhood with me, and we graduated from high school together. I will be praying for you all.
Oh Russell, I am so saddened by the news of your sister’s passing. Her obituary convinced me she was, without question, a beautiful soul. Heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.
Your family is in our prayers.
How we loved Michelle and her dedication to our living Lord. She will be profoundly missed, but we will see her soon. Marty and David Magee
I knew Michelle when she was still in high school! She was a beautiful and loving soul whose smile could light up the world!!
Prayers for peace and comfort for Joyce, Russell and Kevin along with Michelle’s beautiful family! ❤️
Thoughts and prayers to all of Michelle's family and friends.
I'm so very sad to hear this. Michelle was always kind and greeted me with a smile every time we saw each other in school. I was lucky enough to meet Linwood after one of the reunions which was actually the highlight of the entire event - they both had me laughing non-stop. My prayers are with Linwood, their children, and all of her family and friends.
I’m sorry Linny for you and your family’s loss, may God bestow his piece and comfort on all, amen.
So sorry to hear that Russell. I know she will be greatly missed. Hang in there and God bless you all.
We loved Michelle. She was a very special lady and friend. She brightened the lives of all who knew her. We will miss her dearly. Joyce and Lennie, we are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. We Love You.
Jonelle and Jeff.
What a life well lived. I enjoyed our chats about The Lord and our families. Michelle will be so missed, but she is whole now.
