Mildred "Millie" Grove Dixon - Age 92; a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama died Wednesday, January 8, 2025 in Kissimmee, Florida. Millie was a 1947 graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School and a 1951 graduate of Bishop Toolen High School. She was employed as an administrative assistant for 20 years at UMS-Wright Preparatory School, and volunteer coordinator/secretary for 15 years at St. Mary Catholic Church where she organized the Young Adults Supper Club and the refurbishing of the archives. She was honored with the following awards: 2011 Christ the King Medal Recipient, 2006-2007 Certificate of Award Recipient for Volunteer Services with RSVP, National Catholic Education Association Distinguished Graduate Award 2009, 2018 Nominee to decorate the White House.
Millie was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a proud Mobilean and a devote Catholic. Millie received great satisfaction helping members of her St. Mary's Catholic Church community. She loved watching sports, especially her Auburn Tigers (War Eagle). Millie also enjoyed hosting a weekly Rosary Group. In her spare time, she could often be seen relaxing on her front porch with her single glass of wine.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" W. Dixon, father, Charles Francis Grove, mother, Mildred Brady Grove, Brothers, Charles Francis Grove, Jr. and John J. Grove (Nanee), and two sisters, Helen Grove Freedman (Bob) and John J. Grove. She is survived by two sons, William W. "Tripp" Dixon (Nanette) of Kissimmee, Florida and C. Grove (Gia) Dixon of Altoona, PA; three grandsons, William "Will" S. Dixon, Andrew G. Dixon, and Jack R. Dixon; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Ascension Funeral Home with the Rosary at 5:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
