Moraima “Mory” Green, peacefully passed away in Decatur, Georgia on March 12, 2019, after a two-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was a beautiful woman, her laughter and incredibly kind and thoughtful nature will be remembered and greatly missed. She always had a smile for everyone she met. Moraima was born in the Dominican Republic and came to NYC with her Mother in 1961. In her first career as a Fashion Designer on New York’s Seventh Avenue,, she earned a degree from Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC, NY and launched her own fashion business, Mory Green Inc. in 1984. Her designs were followed by Women’s Wear Daily and other publications. After earning a Master’s Degree in IT & Education from Barry University, Miami, FL in 1998, she pursued her second career as a College Instructor and retired in 2014 as Chair of the Fashion Dept. of Bauder College, Atlanta, GA. In 2014. She continued to teach Fashion at the Art Institute of Atlanta part-time. It made Mrs. Green very happy when her students graduated with all she could give them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Dalia Marte, her brother Victor Marte, and her in-laws Charlie and LaMerle Green. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Charlie “Chuck” Green; her two brothers, Pedro Marte of Miami, FL; Cesar (Maria) Marte of Carol Stream IL; her sister, Zeneida (Michael) Kopp of the Dominican Republic; sister-in-law, Josephine Marte of Eagle, ID whose husband Victor is deceased; brother-in-law, Greg (Diane) Green of Saraland, AL; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland. Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Saraland . Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens, Mobile, AL.
