Morris James Moore, 80, of Mobile, AL, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 20, 2024. He was born on November 22, 1944, in Mobile, AL, to Clyde James and Dorothy "Dot" (Willis) Moore. A 1963 graduate of Theodore High School, Morris had a varied and fulfilling career, working at Ingalls, Brown and Root, and as the owner of Moore Construction. He also served his country with pride in the Army National Guard. Morris was devoted to his faith and actively served in the churches he attended, including First Baptist Church of Theodore, Woodridge Baptist Church, and Cottage Hill Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher and cherished his baptism at First Baptist Church of Theodore alongside his parents, sister and brothers and later, his own children. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Dot Moore, and his sister, Patsy Castro. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Vickey (Williams); daughters Shannon (Chuck) Oates, Tracey (Chuck) Jones, and Rebecca Moore (Brandi Pruett); grandchildren Maegan (Cassie) Franks, Madison (Colin) Atchison, Trent (Katharine) Jones, Makenzie (Cole) Dempsey, Mallory (Trey) Watts, Bayleigh Oates and Tyler (Kadie Grace) Jones; great-grandchildren Catherine Atchison, Maia Grace Oates, Charlie Watts, Wesley Atchison, Lilah Jones and Price Taylor Dempsey; brothers Clyde and Bobby Moore; brother-in-law Chuck Castro; as well as many nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by lifelong friends Joe and Ellen Debrow. He cherished traveling with his family, bringing joy and laughter through his quick wit and sense of humor. Above all, he was a Godly man with a servant's heart, always eager to lend a helping hand to others. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Theodore on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 12:00 noon, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
