Emmett V Moseley III died on July 9, 2023, following a long battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born in Baton Rouge on April 25, 1945, Emmett grew up in Natchez, Mississippi, and graduated from high school in 1964, where he made lifelong friends. After earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana State University, he served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant from 1969 to 1971.
Following the Army, Emmett began his professional career with International Paper Company, working in key roles across engineering, production, and research. During his tenure, he and a colleague were awarded a U.S. patent for paper industry digesters. In 1980 he and two colleagues founded Automation Technology, Inc., an industrial process control company. There, he authored several technical papers and received notable awards, including the 1987 Mobile Chamber of Commerce “Small Businessman of the Year.” In 1990, Brown & Root acquired the company and named Emmett Vice-President and General Manager of Automation Technology International, Inc., a role he served until 1997, when he accepted a position with ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB) of Zurich, Switzerland, as Senior Vice-President and General Manager of ABB’s International Oil & Gas Process Control business.
In 2011, the State of Louisiana appointed Emmett CEO of Disaster Litigation Associates, Inc, where he was responsible for hiring the team that investigated and validated the total losses experienced by Louisiana due to hurricane Katrina. As a result of his team’s work, Louisiana received several hundred million dollars in additional reimbursement from its insurance carriers.
Until his death, Emmett served as President and COO at InfoDNA Solutions, LLC, a management information company he co-founded in 2016.
Emmett’s many civic activities included serving on the Board of Visitors at the College of Engineering at the University of South Alabama, the Board of Directors for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, and the first Board of Trustees for the Alabama School of Math & Science Foundation.
Emmett had a deep love for LSU football and, throughout each season, was often seen at Tiger Stadium alongside his grandson, Trevor, who now carries that love forward. He was a dedicated grandfather, having a special bond with each of his nine grandchildren, who cherished their time with him. He often had a home project going and had a knack for building things, including a family television in the 1970s. But what gave him the most joy was the time he spent with his beautiful and beloved wife, Cindy. They could often be found at the beach, the movies, and the bar at Ruth’s Chris.
He is preceded in death by his father, Emmett Moseley II, his mother, Mary Moseley, and his brother, John Moseley. In addition to his wife, Cindy, he is survived by his first wife and their children, Paul (Sara) Moseley, Jim (Jen) Moseley, and Karen (Daniel) Waggoner, as well as stepdaughter Tara (Clay) Morrison, stepson, Trevor (Ashley) Whitten, and nine grandchildren.
The pallbearers are Daniel Waggoner, Nicholas Waggoner, Trevor Whitten, Trevor Whitten, Jr., Jimmy Busby and Gavin Busby.
