Lois Keener Waugh, 76, went to be with the Lord on October 5th, 2023. Lois is survived by her daughters: Holly Biggers and husband Billy of Mobile, AL and Libby Pondo and Mark of Charlotte, NC. One granddaughter, Emily Biggers of Mobile, AL. She also leaves behind her brothers Jimmy, Bruce, and Allen Keener, her Aunt Frankie Bare of Elk Park, NC, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Casel and Rosezell Keener of Banner Elk, NC, sisters Annie Hicks and Sandra Keener.
Lois was a native of Avery County and graduated from Cranberry High School. She also attended Mayland Community College. She retired from years as a CNA in Avery County and also worked at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She then relocated to Mobile, AL. She was an author and co-wrote “Pigtails and Flour Sack Dresses” with her sister Annie. She was a breast cancer survivor and a member of Rightway Christiaan Center Church.
