In 1964 she married the love of her life, Jim Prescott. They were together in holy matrimony for 43 years until he preceded her in death in 2007. She was a graduate of Pisgah High School and received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of South Alabama. She also attended the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University. She moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1970 and lived there for 48 years. Myrtis was an elementary school teacher and school psychologist in Mobile and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. She was an enthusiastic world traveler and visited all fifty states, all seven continents, and dozens of foreign countries. She moved to Clarksville in 2018 to be closer to her family. Her Christian faith was a driving force in her life. Myrtis was an active member of Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a kind and generous person who helped all those that she knew.
Myrtis is survived by her dedicated son, James Prescott, her daughter-in-law Evgenia Prescott, her sisters Sheryl Reddell and Donna Frazer, her brother Thomas Dodd, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth, and Steve Dodd.

A Visitation was held for friends and family on Saturday, January 27 at McReynolds - Nave and Larson Funeral Home from 11 AM-1 PM. A celebration of life will immediately follow, officiated by the Rev. Stewart Salyer. Graveside Service will be held of Myrtis on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
