Paul “Skip” Vernon Macon, Jr. - a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Al. died Saturday, September 16, 2023. He was 70 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Vernon Macon, Sr. and Eva Roberts Macon and his brother, William Henry Macon, and sister-in-law Sherhea Beckham Singleton. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbie Beckham Macon, daughter Lauren Macon Brown (Nolan) and granddaughter Ann Macon Brown. Other survivors include his two sisters, Caroline Montalban (Mike) and Sarah Clarke (Danny); two sisters-in-law, Celia Collins Macon and Penny Beckham; a brother-in-law Billy Singleton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Skip was a graduate of Davidson High School. He attended Marion Military Institute, Auburn University and graduated from the University of South Alabama. He spent his career in the insurance and finance industries. Skip loved Mardi Gras and served as a Knight in the Mobile Mardi Gras Court. As an active member of several Mardi Gras organizations, he followed his father’s legacy by leading the parade on Mardi Gras Day. He also enjoyed his time as a Marshal. Among Skip’s many talents were his superb culinary skills which were enjoyed by his friends and family. His greatest pleasures were dancing and making you laugh with his sense of humor. Above all, he was a devoted family man who loved and cherished his wife, daughter and granddaughter. He loved spending time with them, along with his extended family and friends. Skip will be remembered as an entertaining, friendly, caring and kind person who was loved by all. He lived his life as the epitome of a man who never met a stranger, just friends he had not met before. He will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, September 22, 2023, followed by a visitation and reception in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Spring Hill Presbyterian Church or a charity reflective of your memories of Skip.
