Paul Vickers, age 88, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019 . He was a native of Mummie, KY and resident of Mobile, AL for the past 40 years. Paul served in the US Army for 20 years, saw combat in Korea and Vietnam and was awarded numerous military honors, including two Bronze Stars for meritorious service in combat zones. Following his active military service, Paul served 17 years as a JROTC Instructor with the Mobile County Public School System. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, James Vickers and Gercheon Van Meter; his first wife, Margaret Scherer Vickers; his second wife, Bernice Presley Vickers; his sister, Dottie Puckett and his brothers, Turner, Grant and Silas. His survivors include his children, Michael Dale (Kathleen) Roberts, Paul Vickers, II, Ron (Iris) Boone; daughter, Gloria (Richard) Worsham; his brother, Michael Van Meter; sister, Agnes Gardner; seven grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. A chapel service will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, 12/17/2019 from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a committal service at the grave site.
