Peggy Henn - Mobile Memorial Gardens

Peggy Henn

May 31, 2019
Peggy Loretta Young Henn, 75, of Santa Rosa Beach, FL passed away on May 27, 2019 at her home with her children by her side. Peggy was born in Nashville, GA to the late Hugh Dorsey and Odessa Young on September 24, 1943. She graduated from Cook High School in 1962, where she played basketball, and humbly accepted the title of Homecoming Queen her senior year... Peggy married the late Robert Allen Henn and together they raised 3 children, Jeffrey D. Henn (Karen) of Mobile, AL, David G. Henn of Franklinton, LA & Robin L. Ligameri (Mark) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. She also has a stepson, Robert Henn Jr. of Mobile, AL. She is preceded by her husband and her brother Robert Young (Roma Jo). She is survived by her brother, Hugh Young (Donna); sister, Linda Shchliestett (Jimmy); and her 3 children. She was “Nannie” to her 9 grandchildren, Kayla, Alexander, Hannah-Grace, Madeline, Gavin, Austin, Lily, Eli, & Emerson. Peggy spent the majority of her married life in Mobile, AL and was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church, at the time presided over by her Pastor Fred Wolf (Brother Fred). She was very active in her church and loved to spend time studying her bible and sharing her love for the Lord with others. All of her closets friendships were a result of her time at Cottage Hill. Peggy’s biggest joy in life was being with her family and friends sharing God’s message with her grandchildren whenever the opportunity allowed. She was a prayer warrior and loved people with the most Christ like sincerity. She also enjoyed being with her sisters in Christ, sharing with others within her community. Peggy loved to paint and design, and built a business around it appropriately named, The Henn House, where she used her God-given talent to design and create hand painted works of art on apparel. She loved her job and employed many local students, some with artistic backgrounds, to help her with her creations. Many stayed with her for many years. She traveled all over the Eastern half of the country with full family support selling her designs, which to her amazement, developed a huge following, and giving all the glory to God. She often would make handmade holiday and birthday cards and send them to her children and especially her grandchildren, always with a funny drawing or caricature and sweet message, usually with a bible verse or the words “God Loves You” inside. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many. Her message to us all was to follow the wisdom of the Bible and in her final visits with family, wanted them to know that she was so looking forward to being with the Lord and meeting Him face to face. Jesus, the Son of God, was by her side through all of life’s ups and downs and it is His salvation message she spent the majority of her life sharing with others. Please join us in celebrating her life, Friday morning, May 31, 2019 between 10 AM – 12:00 Noon with a funeral service following from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to mission outreach, at Luke 4:18 www.luke418fellowship.com/outreach.
